How not to make money - a warning

Understandably, in these troubled times, many people are looking to make extra money. And, predictably enough, as our financial situations get more desperate so do we.

At this point we are at risk. An opportunity we would summarily dismiss in normal circumstances looks much more appealing when all other avenues have been exhausted. We are tempted to try anything to improve our circumstances.

This is when the peddlers of get rich quick schemes move in for the kill, preying on the desperate and the vulnerable.

Unscrupulous parasites look to exploit people, having no qualms about snatching money from those who can least afford to lose it.

So, if you come across a chain letter or 'money gifting' scheme, treat it with the respect it deserves and throw it straight in the bin.

There are other ways to make money, maybe not as much as these fraudsters promise, and with much more time and effort involved, but without requiring you to part with your hard earned money at the risk of never seeing it again.

Money for nothing? 3 Tips to make money without working

It's a great feeling working hard and reaping the rewards. But there is something much better than getting money for hard work - getting money for nothing!

These schemes offer to pay you an income for doing little or no work at all:

  1. If you have an interesting story to tell why not try going to: http://www.featureworld.co.uk/? If it's published you could get paid up to £6000 for it.
  2. Recycle your old mobile phone. Companies like http://www.envirofone.com/ will buy that old mobile phone sitting in your desk drawer from you. Depending on the make and model it could make you anything from a couple of pounds to a couple of hundred - and you'll be helping the environment too.
  3. Don't use your parking space? Why not rent it out or sell it? Visit http://www.parklet.co.uk/ to find out how much you could earn. Rental incomes can be as high as £550 per month for Central London locations, and sales in excess of £20,000.

Well there you go, now even the laziest of you have no excuse not to make money.

Easy money from eBay

NicheGeek has written a great post offering some offbeat ideas on how to make money online. These two are my personal favourites:

eBay arbitrage - People like buying stuff on eBay because it’s cheap. But some never do it because they're afraid of being ripped off. But you can cash in by going to Craigslist and seeing what items people buy and sell most often. If you can find things cheaper on eBay buy them and sell them on at Craigslist.

eBay copywriting - If you're good at writing, check eBay for auctions of expensive items, like cars or boats. Find some with badly written descriptions, contact the owners and inform them that a good description of their item will increase the chances of that item being sold and the price it goes for, then offer to do it for 1% of the selling price.

Go for it!
